I became interested in health and wellness well before I even knew it was a career opportunity. As a kid, I would often read nutrition labels, read about the food pyramid, and pick up the latest and greatest 'fitness' magazines when we went grocery shopping with mom.  I would often challenge my brother to see who could go longest without drinking soda or ordering French fries at the school cafeteria. I even hid my dad's cigarettes inside my shoe boxes under the bed in hopes he would give up and never buy another pack (I was right).  I always had an intuition for health and wellness.

It wasn't until my senior year of high school when I sprained my knee during a high school softball game when I began to learn about sports medicine.  My Athletic Trainer worked tirelessly to get me back on the field, physically and mentally. She knew if my head wasn't in this, my season could have well been over. I realized how important this was to me and became dialed in. I was back on the field two weeks ahead of schedule and playing my best game. My athletic trainer is a massive part of that success and is why I became an Athletic Trainer myself.

After graduating high school, I went on to study Athletic Training at State University of New York: College at Cortland.  I immersed myself in sports medicine, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training.

I continued my studies at Long Island University Brooklyn, diving deeper into sports nutrition and exercise physiology.  I proudly served as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for the LIU Blackbird Cross Country, Track & Field, and Softball teams.  We went on to win conference championships and compete in NCAA Track and Field Division I Nationals and NCAA Softball Regionals. I also had the opportunity to train professional UFC fighters under fantastic LIU professors and mentors. I graduated with a Masters of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Exercise Physiology and Sports Nutrition.

Since then, I have run group fitness classes outside in New York City's favorite parks but mainly found myself back at one of our local high schools here on Long Island, serving the community as a High School Head Athletic Trainer.  Helping these kids develop into athletes and successful young adults is one of my life's most outstanding achievements.  I continue to work alongside my high school athletic trainer to this day now as a colleague and friend.

I am grateful every day for helping people of all ages improve their quality of life and return to a high functioning, active lifestyle.
